Acton Project: 104 Prefabricated Panels Installed in 15 Days

Prefabricated wall panels being installed by PrimeFab at a child care centre construction project in Acton, Ontario.

Project Overview

The Acton project is a strong example of how panelized construction can bring speed, coordination, and predictability to commercial and community-focused construction.

For this 4,643 sq. ft. child care centre, PrimeFab delivered a complete prefabricated wall and building panel package that included exterior walls, interior walls, floor panels, roof panels, and parapet walls. With key structural components manufactured off-site and delivered ready for installation, the project was designed to reduce on-site framing requirements and create a more efficient construction sequence.

The exterior wall panels were also delivered with the weather-resistant barrier already installed, moving another critical step into the controlled manufacturing process.

Project Highlights

  • 18 exterior wall panels

  • 42 interior wall panels

  • 15 floor panels

  • 18 roof panels

  • 11 parapet wall panels

  • 4,643 sq. ft. building

  • Exterior walls delivered with WRB pre-installed

  • Full panelized installation completed in 15 days

Prefabricated Building Components Manufactured Off-Site

A key advantage of the Acton project was the amount of construction work completed before the panels ever reached the jobsite. PrimeFab manufactured the exterior and interior walls, floor panels, roof panels, and parapet walls off-site as one coordinated building package. This allowed major structural components to arrive ready for installation rather than being framed individually in the field.

The exterior wall panels also arrived with the WRB already applied, reducing on-site steps while supporting consistency across the building envelope.

Panelized Construction Designed for Efficient Installation

Panelization shifts more of the construction process into a controlled manufacturing environment, but the real value becomes visible once those components arrive on site.

With 104 prefabricated components coordinated as one system, the Acton project completed installation in just 15 days. Exterior walls, interior partitions, floors, roofs, and parapets could be installed as part of a planned sequence rather than constructed piece by piece onsite.

That approach can reduce site complexity and provide greater predictability for the trades and subsequent construction stages.

A Complete Prefabricated Building System

This project also demonstrates that panelized construction is not limited to housing. The child care centre required a combination of structural and interior building components, giving PrimeFab an opportunity to deliver a more complete prefabricated system rather than a single panel type.

By manufacturing walls, floors, roofs, and parapets as part of the same coordinated package, PrimeFab helped simplify the transition from design to on-site assembly.

Speed and Predictability Through Panelization

The full panelized installation was completed in 15 days. For commercial and community-focused projects, reducing time spent framing and assembling structural components on-site can help create a clearer construction schedule and move the building toward enclosure sooner.

The Acton project demonstrates how prefabrication can bring together manufacturing precision, coordinated delivery, and efficient onsite installation in one integrated construction approach.

Why It Matters

The Acton project shows how prefabricated panel systems can support a broader range of building types where speed, coordination, and predictable execution matter.

By moving key building components into off-site manufacturing, PrimeFab helped simplify on-site construction while delivering more than 100 coordinated panels as part of one building system.
From exterior and interior walls to floors, roofs, and parapets, the project demonstrates how panelized construction can help teams build smarter from the start.
